Waiting for my iPhone to finish syncing my audiobook so I can go run. Who cares that it’s raining, I’m badass!

Aaaand done! Slowest 5k ever, but who cares. I haven’t run this far since my race in May so this was a good thing.

The biggest problem was that I ran at the stadium on the red sand thingie and kept getting stone pebbles lodged in the back of my shoes chafing my achilles tendon. I had to stop three times to scoop pebbles out of my shoes. Not so fun. Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions on what to do about it?

Now I’m off to shower and then theatre rehersal. Laters, friends!

Some days you just have to go all stripes. This is one of those days.

Happy Sunday, friends! Today we run! (I promise I’ll put pants on before I leave the house.)

Hey tumblr friends!
We’re back from our vacation in Lisbon and it’s time to get back to healthy living! I’ve been quite off balance this summer, not focusing much on weight loss. With the wedding, honeymoon and everything inbetween I’m not beating myself up about it.
Still, August 1st is here and it’s time to get serious again.
Here’s a summary of what I’m planning.
Every day I will:
Take a 5k walk in the woods (or walk the equivalent 12,000 steps)
Drink 1,5l water
Eat 3-4 meals a day following the itrim method (1 palm protein, 2 hands veggies, 1 hand potatoe/pasta/rice etc)
Blog about what I have/have not done that day
Every week I will:
Weigh in on Wednesday and post it here for accountability
Run at least 2,5k three times
Work out at the gym at least two times
For the next two weeks I’ll cut out all alcohol and munching in-between meals.
Did I forget anything? I hope not.
Let’s make August count! ;)

Today’s dinner had some serious nom-factor! I made my own naan bread and two dips to go with it - a red beet hummus and the above pictured spinach dip. Sooooo good and very filling.
The trail run was good. I did 2,5km without stopping again. We ran “nude” (i.e. no music/phones etc) so I couldn’t track the time, but the hubby said I did really well. We haven’t run together in many weeks, so he hasn’t seen me run in a while. It’s nice to hear that I’ve improved!
Right now we’re in the middle of packing (leaving on honeymoon to Lisbon in Portugal tomorrow) and trying to drag our butts to bed, as it’s already 2:30am here.
If I don’t see you before I get back in a week - be good and take care, tumblrinos! ;)

Bah! I don’t want to!

I went running yesterday. It reminded me that I really need to keep it up, lest I loose the tiny shred of stamina I still have. So I made Johan (my husband! yeah, I said it! *newlywed butterflies*) promise to go running with me today, so I’d get out again.

Yeah. Now he’s on my back. “Let’s go. Just a short run. We’ll be done in no time. You’ll be happy you went afterward.” All of it is true. I love him for pushing me in the same way I love running - I’m really annoyed and against it right now, but I’ll be really happy after it! :)

Ok, I’m going!

Laters!

Awesome things right now:

  • Breakfast is in the oven and smells gooooood!
  • I ran 3.5k without stopping yesterday. Pace was under 7min/km (woot!)
  • I’ve signed up for my second race ever! It’s a 10k in Stockholm (Tjejmilen) only for women. I’m doing it with my two sisters-in-law. It’s gonna be super fun! Oh and it’s on September 1st.
  • In 9 days we leave for Lisbon on our honeymoon. The weather here in Sweden has been cold and rainy, so I’m looking forward to the climate change.

What’s awesome in your lives right now, friends? :)

Gah! So sore!

So my gym is now on summer schedule, which means hardly any classes, so you take whatever you can get.

My workout buddy (she’s awesome!) and I went to the (only) class they ahd yesterday: 40 minutes intervals followed by 30 minutes core. I kid you not. It was brutal. They had us doing lunges, planks, high knees, push ups, crunches, the whole works. No rest, high speed, high repetitions. I can’t remeber the last time i sweated or planted this much. In short, super fun!

But, boy, am I paying for it today! My bad, bum and legs are killing me.

Still, so worth it!

Tomorrow I’m going out running. Who’s with me? ;)

Today has been oh-so-awesome! In list form:
3km train run followed by strengths workout with my training buddy. She’s awesome, so very supportive and pushes me to improve.
Baked a cinnamon sweet bread found on Pinterest. It turned out really well!
Spring cleaning. Seriously. Johan and I spent hours cleaning everything and I feel so much better now that the house is in order again.
The weather report said it would rain all day, except it didn’t! We had quite a few hours of sun which always puts me in a good mood.
Now I’m off to cook dinner: Oven baked salmon with tomatoes and leeks with a side of mashed cauliflower. Yummy!
Sunday rocks! Happy Sunday, tumblrinos!

Today I ran with a friend. 2,5km trail running. I ran the entire distance without walking in 16 minutes!

A short runt, but I’m super happy with not taking any walking breaks.

C25K, Week 4 Day 2 run completed! Things I learned during today’s run:

* I’m good at pacing when I run alone.

* It’s fun to run in the woods, in the middle of nowhere.

* Running in the rain doesn’t kill you.

* Running in a waterproof jacket in the rain means the jacket gets wet both on the outside and on the inside.

* I need to train my lower leg muscles more (shin splins are no fun).

* Running is so much fun alone!

And we’re back!
I restarted my C25K program today, since I haven’t worked on my running in quite a qhile now.
Since I’ve been working out regularly, I decided to not go back to day one. Instead, I started on Week 3 Day 1 and I rocked it! The last 3 minute run was hard, but far from impossible and I felt so very pleased with myself afterwards! I even celebrated with half a melon.
I think easing back in to running is a good idea. I’m going to do Week 3 Day 2 on Monday, but after that I think I might skip to Week 4 Day 1 and see if I can handle a little bit more.
I’m so excited to get started again! I’ve missed running, just haven’t really dared pick up the challange until now.
See you out there (at least in spirit), tumblrinos! ;)

Random fitness and health updates, bullet point style! :)

* I’m almost over my cold (yay!)

* I did 60 minutes of core at the gym yesterday. It was brutal and super fun!

* My back is sore today, which is good because it means I did something right yesterday. I’ve had a hard time finding really effective back training until now.

* I will start running again tomorrow and I’m super excited about it!

* I’ve been slacking on food but I’m ok with that for the moment.

* I’m starting to really like watching myself in the mirror at the gym! I love how toned my arms are and I get a rush every time I notice that I actually fit in and look like everyone else. That’s huge for me!

Happy weekend, folks!

I did it! I ran my first ever 5k race!

My goal was to finish (preferably under 45 minutes). I ran the whole race with only one short walk break in 36:48 minutes.

I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing this feels. I’m so proud of myself. As soon as I saw the finishline teares started rolling down my face, I lifted my head a little higher and gave it all I had. I crossed it at full speed and with a huge smile on my face.

I think I can call myself a runner now and that makes me happy and proud.

Today I picked up my number for my first ever race! 5K tomorrow at 7pm. Think of me and keep your fingers crossed. Please? :)
